where are you located?
Washington, DC

what type of photography do you shoot?
I specialize in artistic storytelling imagery for families, small businesses and organizations, and commercial projects. I also document a limited number of weddings and small events throughout the year.

why would I choose you as my photographer?
I know you have many options when choosing an artist for your portraits. It is so important that you and your photographer are a good match. Let me tell you a little about me and why do i do what i do:

I want to get to know you. You are NOT just another session. This is not about adding sessions to my calendar, it's about the experience, telling your story.  It’s about capturing the real moments of life—especially the in-between moments.  Everything I do focuses on those moments.

Photography is my calling, my profession, and the thing that will undoubtedly drive me insane someday. I wrestle with every image I shoot to make sure I am giving an accurate depiction of the moment. I assume perfection is possible and I want to bring it out of every image. I don’t photograph people, places or things, I photograph the way they make me feel. I aim to capture the human condition in all it’s glory;  laughter, tears, scabbed knees—these are all a part of life.

what does the session fee include?
The session fee is required to book a session and holds your desired date. The fee covers my time to create a highly individualized, custom portrait session. This also includes a personalized questionnaire, editing of your images, and a brainstorming phone call.

are digital files or prints and products included in my session fee?
No. Collections are selected after your files are delivered. I have three collections to choose from. Digital files are included in each collection as well as a print credit which is good for your choice of anything in the online gallery store.

why does custom photography cost so much?
Because no other client session will be like yours. Isn't that amazing? Your experience will be completely unique to you and I spend a great deal of time and attention to make sure that is reflected in your session and the final images. do you develop a relationship with the client before the shoot and if so what does this entail?
Absolutely! I will spend a lot of time preparing for your session via phone or email. I'm open to meet up for a coffee/tea date if time permits to make sure we create the best possible session. We’ll discuss everything from clothes, personalities, to locations. Upon booking, I will ask you to fill out a client questionnaire which helps me to create the best session for you.

where and when do your sessions take place?
I book sessions mostly on weekends but can accommodate a weekday if planned in advance. Sessions take place in your home and where ever else we decide! As long as the location means something to you and your family.

how far in advance should we book?
The earlier the better!  I book limited sessions every month to allow for the maximum customer service. It is advisable that you book at least 4 weeks in advance.

what time of day do your sessions take place?
Sessions take place at 11 am or 4 pm on selected weekends.

how long is the session?
Your session will 2 hours.

when will our portraits be ready for viewing?
Your viewing gallery will be ready for you 2-3 weeks after the session.

what if we need to reschedule due to illness or a family emergency?
I understand with families, anything can happen. I ask that you let me know at least 48 hours before your scheduled session so that we can reschedule without losing your session fee.

I saw you take way more images than just the number of images shown in the full gallery, why can’t we see all the images taken during the session?
You may recall me taking specific images from the session that you may not see in your gallery. This is because I only choose the most technically and beautifully sound images from the session, those that represent me as your commissioned artist, and your style as conveyed during our brainstorm session. I spend a lot of time selecting these images to ensure there is variety.  Many images have eyes closed, not in focus, not flattering, duplicates, and these images are purged immediately. I do not show, or sell unedited images beyond the carefully selected number of images.

what are your covid-19 precautions?
I outline my current covid-19 precautions here.
